Games festival in August features development and film industry experts

Edinburgh Interactive Festival casts wide web

This year’s Edinburgh Interactive Festival plans to bring together some of the most respected names across the games industry and wider entertainment fields, its organisers have revealed.

A description on the official site for the event, which runs from August 12th to 14th, explains that along with the already announced keynote from Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, renowned actors Stephen Berkoff (CLockword Orange. Messiah) and Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings, Heavenly Sword) along with scriptwriters Stuart Beattie (Collateral) and David Fincher (Panic Room, Fight Club) will be taking part. They all fit into the event’s remit of ‘expanding the creative culture of games’.

The event also boasts closer ties with Dare to be Digital, with visitors allowed to view the ideas shortlisted in this year’s contest.

The first day of the conference takes place at the Royal College of Physicians, in Queen Street, Edinburgh, while the second day is staged at The Odeon in Lothian Road, alongside a screening programme of trailers and previews of key gaming works in progress.
