LightSpeed expands with Direct3D 11, Autodesk 3ds Max 2010 and Maya 2010 support

Emergent announces string of Gamebryo updates

California-based game engine group Emergent has announced a trio of key updates to its flagship Gamebryo LightSpeed engine.

Emergent states that its all-in-one LightSpeed engine – which took second-place in Develop’s list of the best game engines available today – has received add-ons designed to “enhance workflow, increase overall development efficiency and extend the engine’s rapid iteration capabilities.”

Crucially, LightSpeed now features full support for the new Direct3D 11 renderer – a part of Microsoft’s DirectX API – allowing a preview of D3D11 rendering support, including support for real-time tessellation.

The engine also offers full support for Autodesk 3ds Max 2010 and Maya 2010, while its doc management system has been enhanced courtesy of Perforce and Subversion integrations.

Emergent’s update comes in the wake of the firm announcing job cuts via wholesale restructuring of its operations.

“As part of the restructuring effort, Emergent will shift resources from its core development team to Emergent’s worldwide developer and publisher programs,” the firm announced early in October.
