Katie Morgan joins middleware firm as new VP of sales and marketing

Emergent grabs SouthPeak EVP

Gamebryo developer Emergent Game Technologies has appointed Katie Morgan, previously executive vice president of publisher SouthPeak Interactive, to the position of VP of sales and marketing.

Morgan has 16 years experience in games publishing, with ten years at SouthPeak, where she ‘rejuvinated the company’s offering’ by diversifying the publisher’s line-up. She will use her experience at a games publisher to advise and guide Emergent’s offerings in answering problems often faced by developers and publishers.

“As a publisher, I was well aware that the rising cost of development is a major challenge for the industry, and I am inspired by Emergent’s vision for the future of game development,” said Morgan.

“It’s no longer a question whether to use a 3rd party development environment; it’s about providing the developer community a way to reduce costs while giving them the freedom to innovate. Emergent’s dramatic successes over the past few years have proven that it will be at the center of the next generation of game development.”

Geoffrey Selzer, CEO of Emergent, added: “Creating the future of game development takes the best minds and talent from a multitude of disciplines. Having built the industry’s best technical team isn’t enough. Our goal is nothing short of being a catalyst for the industry to transform the way people make games.

"Katie’s vast experience, creativity and insights into the needs of developers and publishers are the perfect tools to help craft a customer-aware company that better serves the industry’s best interests. We are delighted to have her join our leadership team.”
