Epic, Frictional and Microsoft sessions on visual arts, design, production and audio

Epic to hold GDC session on art outsourcing

Epic Games, Frictional Games and Microsoft will speak at next year’s Game Developers Conference.

Epic Games producer Chris Mielke will analyse how it overcame the challenges of outsourcing art for its leading IPs, including Gears of War.

Creative director Thomas Grip of Frictional Games, the makers of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, will examine a new way of designing games, based around creating a sense of presence that stimulates players’ imaginations.

And senior audio specialist Scott Selfon at Microsoft’s Advanced Technology Group will examine several audio innovations – while laying out ways to make audio more a part of the game itself rather than being merely ancillary to it.

More talks will be announced soon. Discounted Early Bird registration is now open, and GDC 2013 itself will take place March 25th to 29th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
