First game set to be released later this year

Ex-LucasArts devs raise $1.475m for new studio

Former LucasArts developers have raised $1.475m in funding for their new Singapore-based game studio, Booster Pack.

As reported by TechCrunch, the new developer’s founders include ex-LucasArts Singapore producer Kent Byers, lead designer Shane Gavin, senior engineer Chris Chu and lead artist Benjamin Chevalier.

Booster Pack will use the funding raised to develop and market its first game, set to be released this year.

The investment round in the company was led by Cyberworld Studios, Ariel Star Group and Kathrein Ventures.

“We have worked together for four to five years, so we’re the kind of team that knows what we are good at and what our strengths are. It’s a rare chance to have that in Singapore,” said co-founder Kent Byers.

“We’ve worked on Star Wars and other big IPs. Our team members have worked at Activision, Gameloft, Disney, so we have a long background of experience and I think that sets us apart from other companies here, especially in Southeast Asia.”
