Facebook hires George Hotz

George Hotz, the man best known for crippling the security measures seen in the likes of the iPhone and PS3, has reportedly got a job with social networking giant Facebook.

TechUnwrapped reports that he joined the company on June 17th.

"Facebook is really an amazing place to work…first hackathon over," is the only comment to commune from ‘GeoHot’ so far, though he has also told those in his circle that he wishes to stay out of the public limelight as much as possible.

Hotz became known to the games industry after "declaring war" on Sony and eventually offering users a way to reintroduce OtherOS support to the machine after a Sony update had eradicated it.

It’s not the first time a major coloration has coveted the services of Hotz. In January Microsoft offered him a free Windows Phone 7 handset, with the hope that he could build "some cool stuff" for the handset.

However, Hotz has also hot the headlines for other reasons. Amidst his war with Sony he inexplicably released this admittedly tuneful but undoubtedly irritating hip-hip video berating the firm.

Hotz subsequently settled with Sony out of court.
