Report says Sony Ericsson will unveil gaming phone at the Mobility World Congress

Feb launch touted for Sony Ericsson game phone

Develop’s sister magazine Mobile Entertainment reports that Sony is gearing up to unveil a new games-focused mobile handset in February 2008.

The Sony Ericsson phone will not boast PSP branding, says the report – but "will offer a games-oriented user interface and styling, and comprise technical innovations such as motion-sensitivity, which will pave the way for Wii-like gameplay on a handset," says ME.

Whispers that a device based around gaming functions would emerge from Sony Ericsson have been circulating for years – earlier this year the company filed a patent for such a device.
