Square Enix moves to counter cancellation claims

Final Fantasy Versus XIII development continues

Square Enix head Yoichi Wada has moved to deny previous speculation that action-RPG Final Fantasy Versus XIII has been cancelled.

As reported on and translated by Andriasang, speaking on Twitter Wada said: "There’s someone making a false rumour that Versus was cancelled.

"Haha… just a minute ago, the regular Versus meeting ended. If you saw the presentation of the city, it’d knock you off your feet – lol"

It was rumoured last week the game had be canned, after Kotaku reported a source claimed the game was altogether cancelled, having been dropped by the publisher.

A separate source had told Kotaku the development and resources from Final Fantasy Versus XIII have been integrated into the creation of the upcoming Final Fantasy XV.

For now, though, it seems the game’s production is progressing as normal.
