Square Enix has revised up its financial forecasts for the six months ending September 30th thanks to better than expected sales of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
The MMO – a remake of the original Final Fantasy XIV Online – has garnered more than 1.5 million subscribers since its release in August.
The publisher also noted that its wide-ranging cost reduction efforts, as well as an upsurge in sales of arcade game machines and various console titles in North America.
As a result, Square Enix has revised up its sales forecast for the six months ending September 30th from £374m to £391m.
Earnings for the first half of the year were changed from an expected loss of £8.2m to a profit of £16.5m
Despite a better than expected results, Square Enix refused to change its full-year financial forecasts due to the "uncertainties in the second half of the fiscal year".
