Football Manager exhibition opens at the National Video Game Arcade

The National Videogame Arcade in Nottingham is playing host to a new exhibition on Football Manager.

The game, which started life nearly half a century ago has sen various guises and titles, but all of them with Sports Interactive in the dugout. Now, the studio has opened up its archives to present a picture of one of the UKs longest running and most successful game franchises.

The exhibition, called Football Manager: The Beautiful Exhibition, will open on September 8th and will show documents and materials giving an insight in to the development of the game and, according to the press release, "is going to explain how it works, how it’s grown and how that all important final score is decided."

"Everyone on the SI team is hugely proud that a game which we started work on more than 25 years ago has now become a genuine cultural phenomenon," said National Videogame Foundation CEO Iain Simons. "The fact that Football Manager is now going to be celebrated through the staging of an exhibition at the National Videogame Arcade shows it’s become part of the fabric of gaming life.

"It’s been an fantastic year for us and we’re proud to be working with Miles and the Sports Interactive team on this flagship new project. Football Manager is one of those rare works of art that brings together audiences from all across society. It’s really fitting that that we should be celebrating it at the NVA."
