Total investment in the studio now stands at $23.2m

Free-to-play dev Flaregames nabs $12m funding

Germany-based free-to-play developer Flaregames has raised $12.2m from its latest Series B funding round.

The investment will be used to scale up the company with additional staff and market its upcoming mobile titles. Accel Partners, T-Venture and another unannounced investor led the funding round. Total investment in the studio now stands at $23.2m.

Flaregames’ first game, BraveSmart, was released in May 2012. Its second title Royal Revolt II, was released in February this year and garnered 1.5 million downloads in its first ten days.

The company claims to now be making seven-figure revenues per month.

“This round of funding enables us to invest in bigger projects, both external and internal: we have half a dozen games in development at our studios in Karlsruhe and Frankfurt — and are already working with a number of major US developers on undisclosed projects,” said Flaregames CEO Klaas Kersting.
