Norwegian studio gets cash for free-to-play title On The Edge Of The World

Funcom gets $260k grant for snowboarding game

Online game specialists Funcom has been granted over a quarter of a million US dollars to aid the development of a free-to-play snowboarding title.

A $260,000 fund was given to the Norwegian developer from the Norsk Film Institutt – the nation’s governmental division representing the digital arts sectors.

On The Edge Of The World will be developed for both PC and Mac, with both editions featuring online competitions, social networking access, and trans-media integration.

Funcom – which in 2008 finished development on Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures – hopes the game will be used to promote Norwegian winter sports.
