Donya's auto-LOD tech now easily embeddable in Emergent's engine

Gamebryo LightSpeed gets Simplygon integration

Auto LOD creation and setup tech Simplygon is now available as a pre-built integration for Emergent’s Gamebryo LightSpeed.

Simplygon, developed by Donya Labs, automates the creation and setup of Level of Detail meshes for both static and dynamic objects, preserving key critical features of the original model and generating a decimation history for run-time geomorphing.

“LightSpeed provides game developers with a solution that saves a lot of time and money, keeping them from reinventing the wheel for every game," said Martin Ekdal, vice president of business development at Donya Labs.

"We have the same philosophy at Donya; that game developers should focus on creating good games and license in the available tools and middleware that makes sense for them. I believe a lot of developers who use LightSpeed will find Simplygon very useful as well.”

Katie Morgan, vice president of sales and marketing at Emergent Game Technologies, added: “Developers now have access to a seamless integration between Simplygon and LightSpeed. This makes it very easy for artists to automatically create and manage Level of Detail directly in their scenes and to rapidly see the results in the editor, while simultaneously giving games built on LightSpeed higher-quality LODs.”
