GDC Europe 09: Worldâ??s largest independent browser-MMO group to empower NPCs with Xaitmentâ??s AI tech

Gameforge MMOs boosted by Xaitment AI

German MMO group Gameforge has purchased a license to use tech from AI solutions group Xaitment.

Gameforge, which announced the deal at GDC Europe, will develop new browser-based MMOs using Xaitment’s BrainPack suite of tools.

The BrainPack bundle includes Xaitment’s AI 2.5 gametools – xaitMep, xaitMove and xaitControl. These tools are said to provide developers with simple graphical tools that can adjust NPC behaviours intuitively and allows for quick tweaking.

Gameforge CEO Klaas Kersting said that AI is “one of the most important aspects” of any online game.

“We decided to work with xaitment because of their forward-looking development tools,
which combine the most modern and innovative game AI techniques,” Klaas added.

“The vast feature set within their tools provides more than familiar pathfinding routines and can save every developer a huge amount of development time, risks and costs.”
