Social-focused studios will kick off partnership with launch of Disney Magic Kingdoms

Gameloft and GungHo strike development and distribution deal

Two of social games’ giants have teamed up.

Asphalt developer Gameloft has united with Puzzle & Dragons creator GungHo Online Entertainment to co-operate on the creation and distribution of mobile titles.

The agreement means that the firms will work together to publish each other’s titles across the globe, with Gameloft bringing some of its biggest franchises to GungHo’s mobile platform Playphone.

Post-release, Gameloft and GungHo will provide mutual assistance with refining user experiences and ‘eco-design’ in certain games.

The first title to be launched through the collaboration is Gameloft’s Disney Magic Kingdoms, which will be distributed in Japan exclusively by GungHo.

Developed by Gameloft’s Toronto-based office, the licensed Disney game allows players to build a theme park filled with a roster of the film company’s characters.

“We believe a positive chemistry is happening between the expertise we have built over the years and the acclaimed development prowess of Gameloft,” said GungHo president and CEO Kazuki Morishita.

“We expect this alliance to boost GungHo’s ability to thrill the audience in Japan and overseas.”
