Paris-based mobile game developer and publisher expects more growth

Gameloft sales make $170m

Mobile game developer and publisher Gameloft enjoyed an 11 per cent increase in revenue last year.

The company reports that its 2009 sales hit $170.5 million, with its own mobile games accounting for 94 per cent of sales.

The firm projects further growth in 2010, stating that the emergence of new devices – such as Google’s Nexus One and Apple’s iPad – puts the company in a fortunate position.

The firm didn’t focus too much on Google’s Android OS, having previously said it was dissapointed with sales on the platform.

Apple’s iPhone had partly driven Gameloft’s encouraging gains, with App Store games attributing to $24.6 million in sales – an annual increase of 231 per cent.

Gameloft – which was founded in Paris back in 1999 – said that Europe was still its biggest market, but only just. Europe represented 39 per cent of total sales while North America represented 32 per cent.
