Week-long games education and careers event set to kick off with Ian Livingstone keynote

Games Britannia: One week to go

There’s just a week to go until the Games Britannia education and careers festival, which brings together the industry with youngsters and educators with a view to enthuse the next generation of games sector talent.

The UK event kicks off with a special keynote and opening event lead by Eidos life president and Livingstone-Hope report co-author Ian Livingstone, who will deliver an insight into his long and influencial career.

Targeted at youths aged from five-to-18 years old, Games Britannia strives to bring children into programming, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as well as art, English, music and creativity ‘through the engagement, fun and excitement of video games’.

The conference – taking place in Yorkshire and centred around the Magna Science Adventure Centre – additionally incorporates Games Britannia: Replayed, which welcomes the wider public for a weekend of games-based learning and entertainment.

A special BAFTA ‘Games Question Time’ will also take place as part of Games Britannia, at Sheffield Hallam University, giving attendees a chance to question a panel of experts including Sony Computer Entertainment’s education specialist Maria Stukoff, UKIE’s Andy Payne, and Revolution Software’s Charles Cecil.

"This is a chance to ask a stellar panel of renowned luminaries and experts about the issues affecting the rapidly-evolving video games industry," said Games Britannia organiser Mark Hardisity. "It’s a brilliant opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the most influential and creative people in the games industry today."
