Three-day event sees 43,000 attendees as well as 500,000 website visits

Games Convention Online draws big crowds

Event organisers Leipziger Messe has hailed its first annual Games Convention Online show a success, claiming that the three-day conference had attracted some 43,000 attendees.

The consumer-focused online conference saw 74 exhibitors from eight nations, together showcasing around 150 games.

“90 percent of the visitors were on-line gamers, which means that we reached just the target group the sector was expecting,” said Leipzig Trade Fair chaiman Wolfgang Marzin.

Meanwhile, an exhibitor survey suggested that around 86 percent of visitors were interested in returning to GCO in 2010. The second annual event has already been bookmarked by Leipziger Messe to commence “next Summer”.

Leipziger Messe added that its GCO website was accessed an additional 500,000 times during the show.

"The digital age has reached the fair system,” concluded Marzin. “It is just as important to our exhibitors that people are in tune on site and in global access Internet."
