Full production for tiny console gets the greenlight

GameStick Kickstarter ends at $650,000

Android TV console GameStick has finished its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter raising $647,658.

Casual games company PlayJam launched its funding campaign on January 2nd for the stick-shaped console, which runs Android games and comes with a Bluetooth controller.

The project quickly amassed $242,000 from nearly 2,500 within a week of launching, showing demand for yet another small Android system much like the Ouya on the market.

In total GameStick garnered 5,691 backers, with just under 2,000 people pledging $79 or more to receive their own GameStick when it’s released.

Full production of the android system is now set to go ahead, with backers expected to receive the console in April.

In preparation for launch, PlayJam recently redesigned the GameStick controller based on consumer feedback. The gamepad now features slightly raised analog sticks and the system has also lost its rectangular shape and now features more slanted sides that curve downward.
