PlayJam's Android microconsole will hit store shelves at the end of the month

GameStick launch dated for September 30th

The GameStick microconsole launch has been dated for September 30th, Playjam has confirmed.

A previous announcement promised a launch date some time in September, and Gamasutra has now heard from GameStick’s creators that the launch will take place at the end of the month.

The news was accidentally revealed when a few online retailers listed the September 30th launch date, but while that might be a rough indicator, it’s not always the most accurate.

The GameStick is just one of several bids to create low-cost game consoles using the Android operating system, but its tiny form factor and low price point make it one of the most interesting contenders.

The Kickstarter campaign for “the most portable console ever” raised $650,000 back in February, promising a big screen gaming platform that could fit in a user’s pocket.
