GameStop to add 28,000 staff for holiday season

GameStop aims to hire 28,000 additional staff for this year’s holiday season, the US retailer has revealed.

Games Industryreports the figure tops the 25,000 extra seasonal employees the company looked to add for the 2014 holiday season by 12 per cent.

"Providing exceptional customer service is the cornerstone of GameStop’s promise to make our customers’ favorite technologies affordable and simple," GameStop human resources vice president Lisa Keglovitz said.

"Hiring an additional 28,000 seasonal associates will ensure we are appropriately staffed to meet our customers’ needs this holiday."

The seasonal roles include in-store associates, consumer electronic technicians and warehouse workers for GameStop’s distribution centers.
