Gamevil acquires Monster Warlords dev

South Korean mobile gaming firm Gamevil has acquired a 100 percent stake in Monster Warlord developer Everple.

The buy-out is a follow-up to recent equity investments in the company after a reevaluation of Everple’s current and future lineup.

It’s only the latest in a string of acquisitions for Gamevil, which recently bought a controlling interest in its oldest competitor Com2us

The purchases have been geared first towards attaining a local market dominance in South Korea, but also make a great deal of sense in terms of the company’s plans for global explansion.

There’s a personal note to the acquisition as well; Everple CEOs Jungoo Park and Ilgyu Song used to work for Gamevil before leaving to found the company.

Everple specializes in social network RPGs, and its most recent release – Monster Warlord – has already racked up more than ten million downloads worldwide.

Monster Warlord is ranked as one of the top 50 overall grossing games on Google Play in over 20 countries and is still growing after 16 months on the market.
