GC Asia gets Ubisoft keynote on making new IP

The organisers of this week’s Game Convention Asia Conference has announced a last minute keynote, with Ubisoft Shanghai’s Michael de Plater stepping up to lecture on making new IP.

His talk, ‘The Whole Equation – The Creation of New IPs’ joins a line-up of over 70 speakers addressing key industry topics in over 50 sessions.

de Plater will look at his work making Total War with Creative Assembly and then compare that with the production f new Ubi IP Tom Clancy’s: EndWar which is a first party game with a major license. He also says he will answer the question ‘In the era of games for everyone and new platforms like the iPhone, how can AAA licensed, blockbuster projects empower creativity for developers and make bigger profits for publishers?’

"GCAC is shaping up to be the best event the region has ever seen," said Jorg Zeissig, Managing Director LMI Asia. "With a solid line-up of top industry experts from around the world speaking about issues relevant to the games industry in the Asia-Pacific region, GCAC is a must-attend event."

The second GCAC kicks off on Thursday, September 18th and also runs on Friday, September 19h, 2008.
