GDC COUNTDOWN: Persson, Sweeney and Mechner discuss indie uprising

The garage dev revolution will be the central topic at an upcoming GDC panel, the event’s organisers have announced, with several indie luminaries booked for the debate.

The session will draw upon the views of Canabalt developer Adam Saltsman, Minecraft man Markus Persson, Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner, and Epic founder Tim Sweeney – four names that often headline events in an individual capacity.

The panel, which will be one of the hundreds GDC is to offer, will discuss the disruptive nature of smartphone platforms as well as innovations in digital distribution.

GDC 2012 runs from March 5th to 9th. Representatives from studios such as Naughty Dog, Blizzard, Electronic Arts and Halfbrick will each take stage in San Francisco to discuss a broad range of subjects.

Develop will be out in force at event, providing extensive on-site coverage found through our GDC ‘12 link.
