Gilbert helping with Penny Arcade game

Vancouver-based Hothead games has announced it is working with Ron Gilbert in the making of the new game based on the Penny Arcade webcomic.

Gilbert created a clutch of well-known LucasArts titles in the adventure game genre, including Maniac Mansion, Zak McKracken and The Secret of Monkey Island.

The work between Gilbert and Hothead was described as "an intense collaboration process" the famed designer and studio working on the episodic Penny Arcade game which feature’s the comic strip’s characters.

"I have been a fan of Penny Arcade because I have always found their comic so funny and biting," said Gilbert.

"When I first heard they were making a game and that they had chosen to weave adventure game elements into it, I knew immediately I wanted to be involved. Working with the Penny Arcade guys and the team at Hothead has been an absolute riot."
