Glu shut down celeb focused mobile title Katy Perry Pop

Reports from App Annie suggest that Glu Mobile has shut down it’s second celebrity focused title Katy Perry Pop, and the game is no longer available on the Apple App Store of Google Play storefronts.

App Annie claim the game last ranked on the download charts on November 20th, so was probably removed on November 21st. Those with the game still installed are unable to connect to the game due to connection issues.

Katy Perry Pop was the second of Glu’s celebrity tie-ins, and the first of these to focus on a popular musician, and it was launched a year ago, emerging on December 15th 2015. The game tanked, failing to make an impact in the top grossing charts in either the UK or the US, never getting anywhere near the success of its predecessor Kim Kardashian.

Glu are still working on other celebrity titles, with their next musician focussed title, Nicki Minaj: The Empire, currently in soft launch. We’ve reached out to Glu for comment on the report.
