Johnnemann Nordhagen's indie career continues in San Francisco

Gone Home co-creator sets up new studio Dim Bulb Games

The co-founder of The Fullbright Company and co-creator of its seminal title Gone Home has formed his own studio.

The new outfit for Johnnemann Nordhagen – amusingly named Dim Bulb Games (as opposed to Fullbright, see?) – will be based in San Francisco and continue to develop independent games. Nordhagen announced the move via Twitter.

Nordhagen gained experience at Sony Computer Entertainment America and 2K Games. While working at the latter, he worked on BioShock 2 and the Minerva’s Den DLC with fellow Fullbright co-founders Karla Zimonja and Steve Gaynor.

Shortly after leaving 2K to found Portland-based studio Fullbright, the trio created the critically acclaimed Gone Home – a smash hit that has enabled Nordhagen to branch out on his own.

Speaking to Gamasutra about his future plans, he said: "The good thing about making a financially and critically successful game is that it gives you a lot of opportunities to pursue different things – more personal work, or other collaborations with like-minded folk.

"I’m not still working with Fullbright; Dim Bulb is my full-time now. I learned a lot from Gone Home, I treasure my experience with that game and the Fullbright team, and I hope to take that and forge ahead on new paths."

This is the only word we have on what Dim Bulb is working on.
