Unconfirmed reports indicate the Swedish developer has shuttered two recently-opened studios

Grin allegedly axing over 100 staff

Speculation has surfaced suggesting that widespread redundancies have taken place at Swedish developer Grin.

Early reports indicate that between 100 and 160 employees may have been made redundant. Games news site Kotaku, citing anonymous sources, has suggested that the the redundancies come with Grin closing two of its several studios.

In 2007 Grin opened offices in both Barcelona and the Swedish city of Gothenburg. It is alleged that these two studios have now closed. Along with this, it is thought that some 30 staff have been cut at Grin’s Stockholm-based headquarters.

Develop has contacted the parties involved for clarification.

In a recent interview with Develop, Grin’s CEO Bo Andersson briefly mentioned the two studios suspected to have closed.

“What we did with the Gothenburg and Barcelona studios,” he said, “was to start them up around a core team, and try them out in production to see how they did.”

The company has recently completed a string of projects, having finished its three-year production of new title Bionic Commando, as well as recently releasing Terminator: Salvation.
