So much for the New Year meaning a clean slate for games developers – another UK studio has announced staff cuts, with Gusto making its Derby team redundant, Develop understands.
While Gusto bosses were not available to comment directly, Develop understands that the studio closed on January 7th with all staff laid off.
The studio employed 14 staff, but the firm’s other studio in Banbury remains open and continues working on its current projects, Develop believes.
As we revealed exclusively in the past, the Derby studio was founded in mid-2007 to work on DS/Wii games for US book publisher Scholastic.
Just earlier this week, publisher Oxygen announced that it had put its Greater London studio up for sale, while in December Timesplitters developer Free Radical went into administration.
