Trip Hawkins, founder of EA and 3DO and the current CEO of mobile games publisher Digital Chocolate, will present the opening keynote during March's GDC Mobile.

Hawkins to present GDC Mobile keynote

In a speech entitled ‘Making Mobile Phones the Ultimate Game Platform’ Hawkins will discuss how a ‘craftsman’ approach must be taken to make the most of mobile and ensure its place as a first-rate games platform.

His keynote takes place on Monday March 5th from 9am to 10am.

"I am thrilled to have Trip Hawkins, a game industry legend kick-off GDC Mobile with such an important topic of discussion," said Robert Tercek, founding chairman of GDC Mobile. Tereck is also the president of PeopleJam and is hosting the keynote speech on the Tuesday.

"Trip will challenge the entire industry to rise from the lethargy of derivative products and safe bets to take advantage of the unique aspects of the wireless platform."

GDC Mobile is part of the week-long Game Developers Conference, which runs from March 5th to 9th in San Francisco at the Moscone Center.

Today is the last day for early registration for the event – more details can be found at the official site.
