GDC 09: EA Tiburon staff spin out studio just days after DS title is released

Henry Hatsworth devs form independent studio

Undoubtedly, one of the surprise DS titles of the season is EA Tiburon’s Henry Hatsworth & The Puzzling Adventure.

Although easy to mistake for a Professor Layton knock-off, the platformer-cum-puzzler has been gaining positive reviews having only been available globally for a matter of days.

So you’d think EA would be keen to keep the staff on board? Perhaps not – the team has announced at GDC the formation of DreamRift, a new independent studio.

Hatsworth lead designer Pete Ong and lead programmer Ryan Pijai have formed the team, joined by a number of unnamed staff that have worked on games including Dementium: The Ward and Tony Hawk’s Project 8.
