An Indian company that already boasts a deal with a notable Hollywood movie firm to support the art production of a new animated movie is moving into the games sector, Develop can reveal.
Delhi-based Planman Technologies has interests in a number of media industries, from newspaper production to movie art generation, but now it wants to get into games as well – and thinks it can provide a competitive offer.
"With the pressures in the market developers don’t have much of a choice but to think about keeping costs low," explained vice president Viraj Kalra told us.
The company plans to focus at first on art generation. Its in-house artists, around 35 of which already hail from the games art field, have been at work providing materials for a number of films.
Explained Kalra: "The teams we have are broad so are extremely strong in building characters and vehicles."
Planman has recently been courting a number of UK studios ahead of a bigger push later this year. "We will go at this very aggressively," added Kalra.
