Three founders have experience with Oculus, ID and Microsoft

Industry veterans form new eSports focused VR studio, Drifter Entertainment

Three veterans of the VR and AR industry have come together on a new virtual reality studio: Drifter Entertainment.

The studio has settled in Seattle, and currently comprised of Ray Davis, Kenneth Scott and Brian Murphy.

The trio have plenty of experience in video games, with Davis coming from a General Manager role at Unreal Engine, and previously operating as the CTO for Microsoft’s HoloLens project. Scott joins from Oculus, where he spent 2 years directing a team of developers in making launch content, although has previous experience at Id Software and Microsoft, where he was the lead artist on Doom 3 and art director for Halo 4. Murphy also worked on the Hololens, but he also had a hand in developing Microsoft’s Kinect and the Xbox One.

The company are looking to focus on multiplayer titles for virtual reality, with an emphasis on competitive and social games.

"We’re passionate about the opportunity to finally bring our vision to life," Davis said. "Virtual reality represents a rare opportunity to build an entirely new generation of game experiences to completely immerse yourself in. We’re combining our expertise in crafting incredibly polished games along with our early expertise with VR to build some truly amazing (and fun!) games for these emerging platforms."
