But Persson isnâ??t keen on external influence

Investors surround the Minecraft man

Having ripped through the established PC market with his triumphant indie title Minecraft, Markus Persson now finds himself surrounded by VC firms and other investors desperate to bottle his success.

Persson, who has already been offered job interviews from the likes of Valve and Bungie, told GamesIndustry.biz that his new company is “now getting other types of interest – people who want to throw money at us.”

The Swedish Minecraft creator admitted the offers he receives are double-Dutch to him, and remains committed to being independent of any external influence.

“I’m getting the business people to talk to them. I’m just focused on the development so I’m not really in the loop there,” he said.

“I’d rather have it just be self-funded, because we can run the company we want. If we fail with a game it’s because we failed it, not because we had to rush it to meet a deadline.”

Persson, who now heads up his new studio Mojang Specifications, was at one stage netting $350,000 per day from sales of Minecraft.
