Sequel to revived post-apocalyptic adventure aims to raise $2.75m

InXile ditches Kickstarter for Fig in Wastleand 3 crowdfunding push

InXile Entertainment has announced it will be crowdfunding a new Wasteland game – but not through the platform that saw the previous title successfully financed.

The studio is dropping Kickstarter in favour of Fig, the video games-specific crowdfunding platform launched by leading games developers including Double Fine’s Tim Schafer, according to Eurogamer. InXile boss Brian Fargo is also on the Fig advisory board.

The campaign for Wasteland 3 goes live on Wednesday, October 5th with a target of $2.75. InXile has stressed that $2.25m is the maximum it will take for equity.

Fig allows users to invest in projects as well as back them. While backers will be able to pledge smaller amounts, the minimum entry for investors is $1,000.

Wasteland 3 continues the post-apocalyptic series that inspired the might Fallout franchise. It will be developers for PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac and Linux, with the aim of launching simultaneously across all platforms.

The key selling point this time around is “story-driven synchronous and asynchronous multiplayer”. In addition to playing with others co-operatively online, fans will also be able to complete missions when their fellow Rangers are offline – although with lasting consequences for the whole squad.

Fig has also announced two more campaigns for upcoming indie titles: physics-based boating tile Make Sail by Popcannibal and text-based adventure Trackless by 12 East Games.
