Gameloft optimistic about mobile subscription model

iPhone MMO ‘makes $1m in 20 days’

Smartphone games specialists Gameloft say its new mobile MMO game has generated over $1 million in revenue after just twenty days since release.

The MMORPG, called Order & Chaos, has the potential to generate far more, however, by virtue of its subscription-based model.

Order & Chaos is available for an initial $6.99 and comes with three months’ free subscription. Thereafter, customers have to pay to renew.

“We are pleased to know that our customers have embraced our innovative business model,” said Gameloft publishing exec Gonzague de Vallois.

Gameloft’s annual revenues had climbed 16 percent across 2010.
