Irrational Games returns with 2K Boston rebrand

Bioshock studio 2K Boston is being rebranded in a move that will mark the return of the studio’s original name – Irrational Games.

Irrational was renamed 2K Boston back in 2007 after the developer was acquired by publisher Take-Two.

The name reversal, first revealed in a Game Informer report, is testament to the prestige and influence of the Irrational Games brand – a name known for titles such as System Shock 2 and Freedom Force.

Take-Two renamed the studio to bring it in line with its 2K Games umbrella; binding studios such as 2K Marin, 2K Play and 2K China.
