The studio behind RuneScape to discuss its own evolution

Jagex set for GameCity appearance

MMO specialists Jagex will be attending the upcoming GameCity festival in Nottingham, offing insight into how the company formed and progressed to become one of the shining stars in the UK tech sector.

The Cambridge-based developer was recently named as one of Britain’s fastest-growing tech companies in the UK, hitting 22nd place in The Sunday Times’ league table of 100 growing tech companies.

Christoph Vietzke, head of development on MMO RuneScape, hopes that his shared experience can be of great help to other developers.

“As a company that concentrates on making great games rather than advertising campaigns, Jagex stands as example that there is room in the games industry for independent developers,” he said.

“I hope that some of our experiences can help other independent developers to be successful and that’s why I happily accepted the invitation to this great event.”

GameCity takes place from October 27 to October 31.

[Industry news] Physical disc production ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles

"As consumer preferences and the broader entertainment industry continue to shift away from physical discs to digital, physical game disc production for all new games releasing on PlayStation consoles will be discontinued starting January 2028.  Following this date, new games will be available on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital formats only. This transition has no impact on games that already released, or will be releasing, prior to January 2028 in disc format."
