UK's biggest studio beats the industry's finest to claim quiz glory

Jagex victorious at Develop Quiz

They came, they drank the bar to exhaustion, and they were quizzed – and, in the end, a Jagex team emerged as the winners of the Develop Quiz.

The Cambridge studio, which entered two teams with ‘Jagex 2’ emerging victorious, triumphed over second-placed Spilt Milk Studios and third-placed Peppermint PR, after answering eight tough rounds of questions.

The victory proves that all that time spent expanding RuneScape and moving into publishing hasn’t stopped Jagex’s staff gathering enough knowledge to win the industry’s most hotly contested meeting of intellects.

The sold out event welcomed 90 leading UK games developers to central London’s recently refurbished Sway Bar. If you want to be there next time, check back with us for more on the forthcoming Develop Quiz.

Jagex 2 and 16 other teams were quizzed on topics including industry news, fictional scientific devices, the eyes of video game characters, and taglines from classic movies.

Thanks to our generous joint-headline sponsors Qualcomm and Jagex, and round sponsor Avatar Games Recruitment, the night was a huge success, and everybody enjoyed themselves a great deal.

Jagex 2 took home the treasured Develop Quiz trophy, a Qualcomm dual-core Snapdragon mobile development platform, a £2,000 Develop ad credit and ample quantities of champagne. The atmosphere was a little anarchic, the exact usage of PIT-Boy and Vault Boy was furiously debated, the name of that gun in Portal was agonisingly considered, and a fair few business cards changed hands.

In order of score, starting with the highest, the following teams did battle at the Develop Quiz:

1. Jagex (team 2)

2. Spilt Milk Studios
3. Peppermint P
4. Blitz Game Studios

5. Datascope

7. Creative Assembly
