But duo’s new project will not be Silent Hills

Kojima still working with Del Toro

Amidst the ongoing dispute between Konami and Hideo Kojima, Silent Hills was cancelled.

The project was significant for not only being a revival of the popular survival horror series, but also being a joint project between Kojima and notable film director Guillermo del Toro.

Now, news has emerged that this partnership has continued, enough development on the game has not.

“I love working with Kojima-san,” del Toro told IGN. “We are still in touch. We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that’s not going to be [Silent Hills]”.

The director shared a little more about the original plans for the horror game, stressing that the title was “in the planning stages”.

“It’s a shame it’s not going to happen,” he said. “We were talking about really pushing the boundaries of the new consoles, and making the game really mess with your head. One of the great moments in Metal Gear [Solid] was Psycho Mantis. The idea that a game can actually interact with you, and stuff like that.”

Konami has removed Kojima’s name from the boxart of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but insists Kojima is still involved in development.

Earlier this month, the Japanese voice actor for Solid Snake claimed that Kojima Productions has been dissolved.
