Catalis grows testing and certification offer via acquisition - move also aids expansion into the US

Kuju and Testronic parent acquires US-based QA firm GameInstinct

The parent company of game development firm Kuju and QA company Testronic Labs has grown its base via the acquisition of American testing firm GameInstinct.

Based in Seattle, GameInstinct offers outsourced quality assurance services including consultancy, pre-certification, hardware and software testing, and staff placement to the games industry. Partners have included Big Fish Games, Activision, Oberon Media and Nintendo.

In a statement announcing the acquisition, Catalis said the buy, and its new company’s North American foothold was "an excellent starting point for Catalis’ expansion in the US-markets". In Testronic Labs, Catalis already boasts a QA and testing service in Europe.

Catalis added that for the business year 2007 GameInstinct should generate turnover of approximately US$1.6m, "also, the company is strong-growing and profitable".
