Unified on- and off-lighting tech gets visual upgrade

Lightsprint SDK 2008 released

Prague-based illumination middleware developer Lightsprint has released the 2008 edition of its lighting SDK.

The toolkit, which integrates both a realtime and offline global engine into one package, offers a unified API for both that allows for effortless switching between precomputed lightmaps and realtime global illumination.

The latest version allows for an unlimited number of static and dynamic light sources, and its physical light simulation features unlimited bounces and colour bleeding without a huge impact on frame rates.

In addition, Lightspring has announced that Korean developer EGN Interactive has licensed the technology for a forthcoming unannounced title.
