Lindsay Lohan steps up Grand Theft Auto V legal complaint

Actress Lindsay Lohan has responded to claims that her Grand Theft Auto V lawsuit is a publicity stunt by significantly upping the intensity of her claim.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the previous ten-page lawsuit, filed back in July, has now been buffed up to 67 pages. Its stated aim now is to protect their likeness and personas from misappropriation by unscrupulous merchandisers”.

Her new evidence includes pictures of the game discs, adorned with pictures of the ‘Lacey Jones’ character and allegations that Rockstar "used a look-a-like model to evoke the persona and image" of Lohan by imitating a photograph that was once taken of her in 2007.

Adds the suit: "The Defendants were in the business of selling games as opposed to artists displaying artwork in galleries for profit where unauthorized images or portraits of individuals were reproduced in limited editions as opposed to the mass production for commercial promotion and financial gain."

Lohan maintains her claim Lacey Jones the character is an "unequivocal" reference to her, depicting her image, style and voice.

In August Take-Two called for the case to be dismissed, accusing it of being frivolous”, saying that it was "filed for publicity purposes" and arguing that the character resembles her only in being young and blonde – and crucially does not use her name or likeness.
