Seamless texture generator features up to ten-fold performance hike

Luxology launches imageSynth 2

Luxology has launched version 2 of its imageSynth tool, which transforms existing images into seamles textures.

The app, which is developed using technology from middleware firm Allegorithmic, is available as a plug-in for Adobe Creative Suite 4, or can be used as a stand-alone application.

Improvements in the latest version include performance enhancements of up to ten times, support for dual-core systems, improved memory management and control over ‘chunk size and orientation’.

"imageSynth has become a favorite plug-in for the Photoshop community due to its ease of use and the smooth – almost magical – results users get when processing input images," said Brad Peebler, president and co-founder of Luxology.

"imageSynth 2 is a real workhorse – processing even print resolution images into new, tile-able images at amazing speed."

Gary Bouton, noted PhotoShop author and artist, added: "Since its creation, there has been no substitute for imageSynth – it fills an essential need for game developers and DTP professionals alike. There’s no other Photoshop plug-in that even comes close for manually building high-resolution seamless tiling textures."
