Mad Catz reveals M.O.J.O. release date and price

Mad Catz has revealed its upcoming M.O.J.O. Android microconsole will launch on December 10 and can be pre-ordered for $249.99.

The M.O.J.O. is just one of several microconsoles in the works, but it is the most expensive and powerful with the exception of the Nvidia Shield handheld – debuting at $299.99.

The device runs on Android 4.2.2 includes an Nvidia Tegra 4 T40S 1.8GH Processor with 2GB of Ram, 16 GB of internal storage, support for 5.1 channel surround sound, HDMI out with 1080p resolution, WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0.

The main selling points are the relatively hard-core specs and its openness to developers, who can use Nvidia Tegra Play, the Amazon Appstore, or Google Play.

Another interesting feature is that users can choose to play with a mouse or use the controller’s left analog stick to move an on-screen cursor.

Mad Catz has also teased that the device will be able to play PC games, which suggests a streaming capability similar to the Nvidia Shield or Valve’s Steam Machines.

Gamasutra notes that Mad Catz removed any mention of the PC gaming capabilities of the device after a request for comment, which either means the announcement was a mistake, the feature has been canceled, or the company simply isn’t ready to talk about it.
