SlipShift's Reborn Horizon hits market with a new name, bolstered by Computec prize fund

Make the Game dev winner goes public with first game

The Berlin developer that won last year’s Make the Game development contest has released its first title.

SlipShift’s browser strategy title Reborn Horizon has been renamed Reborn Empire for its release, and is being published internationally by Digital Chocolate.

The Make the Game competition, conceived for creators of browser and social games, offers a substantial prize fund of €1 million to its chosen winner, divided across an advance royalty payment and advertising budget in Computec’s print and online titles. The development contest debuted in 2011 when SlipShift won, and has returned for 2012.

"Reborn Empire is an outstanding game with great attention to details," said Trip Hawkins, CEO and founder of Digital Chocolate. "We are thrilled to be publishing partners with browser game pioneers like Computec and SlipShift."

"The success of Reborn Horizon in the open beta far exceeded our expectations. We are delighted that the game is launched officially at the same time as its international release under the title Reborn Empire. We have found an ideal partner in Digital Chocolate," added Hans Ippisch, COO of competition organiser and publisher Computec Media.

Studios of all sizes are eligible to enter the 2012 iteration of Make the game. They can do so at the official Make the Game website.
