New incentive awards tools to independent developers

Marmalade offers free licence for Windows Phone devs

Marmalade is giving away free licences for its SDK to any developer that uses its tools to build Windows Phone 8 games.

The deal encourages independent developers to use the free trial of Marmalade to create a game that, if accepted, will earn a three-month Marmalade SDK licence, a Windows Phone 8 handset for testing, and free Windows Phone Dev Center access.

"Attractive new platforms like Windows Phone 8 are here to stay, and consumers really benefit from being able to choose from a wider range of smartphone handsets and operating systems," said Marmalade CEO Harvey Elliott.

"Marmalade is all about enabling developers to get their games and apps in front of consumers, no matter what devices they’re using, and our work with Microsoft is going to make it even easier to reach new marketplaces with their content."

To apply, interested devs can fill in the form provided on the promotion’s webpage.
