Marmalade Platform 8.5 overhauls 2D Kit editor

Marmalade Technologies has updated its flagship tool, introducing a number of improvements and revamping one of its key features.

For Marmalade Platform 8.5, the 2D Kit editor has been completely overhauled based on feedback from devs. Changes include custom editor layout preferences, including the ability to uses new style templates, icons and adjustable colours, as well as a clearer animation timeline, better zoom control, dockable panels and more.

Marmalade has also updated the platform’s documentation and tutorials in order to help users access these new and improved features.

Elsewhere, support for audio tool OpenAL has been added, as well as a new extension that helps devs make their Windows apps stand out through live tiles. Finally, following the introduction of C++11 support in the previous release, 8.5 adds some improvements that better support the latest version of Microsoft’s Visual Studio 2015.
