Outsourcing studio brings its ten-year business to a close

Matahari Studios closes remaining studio

Co-development group Matahari Studios has announced the immediate closure of its final remaining studio, located in Indonesia.

The move marks the end of ten years of outsourcing for the development group. Matahari made content for a number of companies around the world, including EA, Sony, Take-Two and Codemasters.

"Matahari Studios, the largest game development studio in Indonesia in terms of revenue, has announced that it will shut down its only studio left in Jakarta, Indonesia,” read a company statement.

In 2008 the group’s Indian parent company, LAI Games, sold its Manila offices to UK-based indie group Kuju. It was revealed yesterday, however, that Kuju is going to close down the division.

It is unclear how many workers will be affected by the company closure. Matahari’s LinkedIn profile put the group’s workforce at somewhere between 51 and 200.
