Midway plans MK marketing blitz

While there was still no word on David Zucker’s replacement as CEO, Midway’s top execs were left raving after a Leipzig showing that whipped the media in attendance into a frenzy.

The star of the publisher’s press conference was undoubtedly Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, and after The Joker was demoed in-game for the first time, director for global marketing Leonie Manshanden told MCV to expect a marketing blitz when the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title is released in November.

We’re really backing this in a big way,” said Manshanden. We’re running a big cinema campaign this month ahead of movies like Hellboy II which goes right through until November in 90 per cent of UK cinemas.”

And interim CEO and president Matt Booty added that with TNA Impact also now in its arsenal, Midway is confident that it will manage to wow critics and consumers alike.

Going back to the arcade days, Midway has a great heritage in action sports,” Booty told MCV.

The guys involved back then are working on TNA Impact. We’ve got new technology, combined with the history and heritage, it has really turned out well for us.”
